William Rogers was born in Bristol, Surrey on the 17th April 1884.
He enlisted on the 17th April 1902 serving on various ships and shore bases, in April 1914 he joined HMS Gossamer and served on her until September 1917.
HMS Gossamer was a Sharpshooter-class torpedo gunboat of the British Royal Navy. She was built at Sheerness Dockyard from 1889–1891. She was converted to a minesweeper in 1909 and continued these duties during the First World War.
He was discharged on the 16th April 1924, but re-enlisted on the 28th October 1935 as an A.B. We have not found any details of his service from that date onwards.
