1914 Star, British War Medal, Victory Medal.

MIC shows service in 93rd MT Company ASC – a London Omnibus company which was formed in October 1914 originally as the 4th Omnibus Company and arrived on the Western Front on 1 November 1914.
It is well-known that, such was the shortage of troop transport, London omnibuses were requisitioned in 1914 to serve on the Western Front to take troops to forward positions – a novel situation which called forth considerable comment at the time!
They served throughout the war on the same sort of duty (troop movement, taking wounded to hospitals etc.); there is a great deal of info on these companies online.
As a result of their successful use, a number of other ASC bus companies were formed to do the same work.
David Phillips served in France and Flanders with 93rd (London) Omnibus Company, Army Service Corps, from 1 November 1914.
An unusual and evocative trio!
NEF condition (modern ribbons).
