He’s service papers show Richard Bertie Hewitt was born in Dudley on the 26th June 1880.
He served in France from 20th December 1917 to 19th January 1919
in the Royal Naval Air Service in France until the end of 1917, when he transferred to the Royal Air Force for the rest of the war.
His papers also confirm he only received a pair for his ww1 service.
