BWM/Victory pair with 1935 Jubilee & 1937 Coronation – officer in 15th Hants (Yeo. Battn.) [wounded]

British War and Victory Medals (2 Lieut. P. D. Aylward) with 1935 Jubilee and 1937 Coronation, bar mounted as worn (latter two unnamed).

Pair confirmed on MIC – Percy Danford Aylward, 2nd Lt. in Hampshire Regt.

Born 1885; posted to the Inns of Court OTC in 1917 and commissioned into Hants. Regt.

Served in France from 6-9-18 in 15th Hants. Regt., and recorded in Hants. Journal as wounded in action in 1918  – research with the group suggests near Gheluwe, Ypres Salient, 1-2nd October 1918.

MIC shows address in West St., Wilton, Salisbury.

In later life, he became a solicitor (“Salisbury’s oldest practising Solicitor” at the time of his death, aged 84) and died in Wilton, where he had lived from 1905, in 1970.

He was Town Clerk of Wilton in the 1930s (hence 1935 and 1937 medals), retiring from this post in Sept. 1937.
