Aslett was born in Fareham, Hants. in 1889 and enlisted from school in 1906 as a Boy and then served continuously through to his death in 1916.
Aslett served with the Naval Siege Guns in France and his papers record slightly wounded in action on 27th March 1916 and then killed in action “whilst serving with the Naval Siege Guns in France” on 27th August 1916.
Buried in Adinkerke Churchyard Extension.
DSM awarded per London Gazette 1.1.16 – so an award for 1915 action, probably Ypres.
worthy of greater research.
Medal has a few little edge dints, not detracting, and only a couple of light contact marks.
