John Service served in the K.O.S.B. landing in the Balkans on the 14th June 1915, later serving in the Royal Engineers under service no 208751. His medal roll, confirms he served in the 1/4th Battalion and was discharged on the 1st June 1919
The I.D tag belonged to James William Service from Kelso, Roxburgh who also served in the 4th Battalion and died on the 10th March 1915
