General Strike 1926 – medal and named document
Two items relating to the General Strike of May 1926-
(1) Very fine bronze medal/medallion designed by F. Gillick given to those who volunteered their service to keep the country running during the strike: “For Service in the National Emergency May 1926”. Bronze, 50mm dia. In EF condition.
(2) Certificate of thanks/commendation for service as a Special Constable during the General Strike. “On Behalf of His Majesty’s Government we thank you….” Printed signatures of PM, Stanley Baldwin, and the Home Secretary W. Joynson Hicks. Named to : Special Constable Thomas Huntington, Lancashire Special Constabulary. Reverse blank; 185mm x 240mm. Has been folded (no damage) and with some slight spotting.
