Dudley North was born in St Pauls area of Middlesbrough on the 26th March 1912.
He enlisted into the Green Howards on the 1st June 1931 aged 19. being posted to the 1st Battalion on the 10th November 1931, joining the 2nd Battalion in India on the 4th February 1933, serving on the North West Frontier during the campaigns in 1937 and 38 receiving the India General Service medal with 2 clasps.
He transferred to the reserve on the 27th April 1938.
Being recalled for War service he served with the 1st Battalion in Norway and then the 4th Battalion in Africa, transferring to the RAOC in 1941 and finally demobilised on the 3rd February 1946.
Finally he spent some time in the Moorlands nursing home in Guisborough before his death on the 2nd May 2007 aged 95.
