Ernest Wood, son of John and Alice of Haigh Farm, Moorside Rd., Eccleshill, Bradford.
Enlisted 1911, aged 18, a blacksmith’s striker.
Served in “D” Coy, 1st Yorks during 1919 operations.
Died at Peshawar, 26th Oct. 1919, aged 26 and buried in Peshawar (Right) British Cemetery; commemorated on tablet in St. John’s, Peshawar, and also on the Delhi Memorial.
The battn. was based at Peshawar between Jan. 1918-Jan. 1920 (operations on the NWF etc.) and recipient is entitled to BWM (only) for garrison service in India.
A scarce casualty.
