John Taylor, a Church of Scotland minister, joined the Bengal Ecclesiastical Establishment in 1880 and was Assistant Chaplain 1880 to 1883
In Allahabad 1883 to 1884 and Murree 1885 to 1886
Peshawar 1888 to 1891 and Faisalabad 1891 to 1895
He became Senior Chaplain on 15th September 1890.
His final appointment in India was as Senior Chaplain at St. Andrew’s Church, Calcutta, from 1896-1901.
He also served as Chaplain of the Cossipore Volunteer Artillery in Calcutta from 20th September 1897.
