Served in the Sudan, 1885-86 (Egyptian frontier – battle of Ginniss; medal and star), North West Frontier 1897-98 (medal and clasp), South Africa 1899-1902 (Natal campaign incl. relief of Ladysmith, Colenso etc.; QSA with 5 clasps and KSA).
Re-employed during WW1.
