Military Medal, Geo. V., 1914-15 Star, British War Medal, Victory Medal.

to – 96924 Spr. – L.Cpl. S. Rathbone, R.E. (on MM), Spr. on Trio.

Rathbone served in 176th Tunnelling Coy (as on MIC, LG etc) and his MM for France was gazetted in LG 23.7.19.

Entered theatre of war, 1st June 1915 and discharged to “Z” Reserve in Jan. 1919.

The MM was presented in a public concert in Corbridge , Staffs. (near Stoke-on-Trent), in Nov. 1919; it was organised by the Corbridge branch of the Comrades of the Great War to honour local men who had received awards; one DCM and 6 MMs were presented on the occasion by the local vicar, Rev. Hewitt.

With copied rolls, newspaper extract, LG etc.

Medals polished VF and on new ribbons but from original brass mounting bar.

 A very interesting MM group with good research potential for this iconic unit.
