General Service medal 1918-62, clasp, Palestine 1945-48, 2629027 L/Cpl. J. Phelps. Gren.Gds.; 1953 Coronation medal, un-named as issued. Pair court mounted as worn.
Both medals confirmed on the medal rolls, the Coronation roll confirms he was a member of the Queen’s Company, Grenadier Guards, on duty at the Queens Coronation.
Phelps is on the group photo taken at Windsor Castle , on the 14th April 1953, in the front row, 10th from the left.
The Queens company men were all required to be over six feet tall, and were considered the smartest of every new intake to the regiment.
