Description

Queen’s South Africa, clasps ‘Defence of Kimberley’ and ‘South Africa 1901’

t1057 Pte. A. D. A. Rogers, Kimberley V. R.

Correct on roll, which shows as discharged medically unfit, 15.4.01 and also service in Kimberley Town Guard. Listed with Premier Mine detachment.

Arthur Daniel Alexander Rogers – potentially a very interesting recipient worthy of further research.

Medal roll actually gives his UK address (Hambledon, Surrey) but he seems to have spent a long time in South Africa.

Born in Boulogne, the son of Captain Daniel Alexander Rogers of the Madras Army.

Married in Bethlehem, Orange Free State, 8th March 1886; dau. born there in December. He married Jaffrina Uys.

Rogers died in Exmoor in 1936.

Medal never worn – about NEF under toning and with original long ribbon – a nice looking example.
