to – 174686 A.B: J.W.Wilson, H.M.S. Monarch. [engraved naming]; with feint ghost dates.

A very rare example of the medal with good battle bars to the Royal Navy. Only 18 five clasp medals to this ship.

Born Bermondsey, 1877 and enlisted as Boy in 1893. Served through to Dec. 1905 when he joined the RFR, being discharged as “time expired” in Dec. 1910.

Was aboard Monarch from Jan. 1897 to June 1900;
