George Jeffries a wheelwright from Norwich, Norfolk enlisted aged 18 on the 28th September 1855 to 19th March 1877.
Discharged as a Blacksmith.
He served in 21 Company Royal Engineers during the Mutiny which was one of only 3 companies that served in the Mutiny. These were the first ever R.E. companies to serve in India as the Indian Army had its own Sappers and Miners. Patrick Sleavin of the 21st Company won his Victoria Cross at the capture of Jhansi.
