James McNally was born on the 21st March 1879 in Portaferry, C Down. and enlisted in the Navy on the 4th January 1898.
He went on the serve until the 3rd March 1920 when he was invalided out of the service.
HMS Halcyon 14th November 1914 to 30th April 1917, then various shore establishments during WW1.
