WW1 pair – 2/8th Battalion (Leeds Rifles) West Yorks Regiment, Wounded (GSW Left eye)

British War and Victory medals, 57304 Pte. A.W. Stewart. W.York.R.

Arthur William Stewart was born in 1877, was was from Hendon, Sunderland.

He served from the 5th July 1916 to the 11th December 1918, receiving a gunshot wound to the left eye he received the Silver War Badge, no 477110

His MIC confirms he only received a pair, and his pension card is stamped “Dead” although this does appear to be crossed out.

His MIC also shows he served in the Royal Defence Corps, under service no 95789.
