The Albert Medal awarded to Works Manager James Kennedy Chapman for saving the life of his colleague Thomas McCormack from the inside of an iron stoke hold tank in the steamer S.S. Cairngorm, at the Mercantile Dry Dock at Jarrow, on the River Tyne. He also attempted to save the life of another colleague, before he also was overcome and incapacitated by the same poisonous fumes on 27 November, 1908
