William Vodden was born in Soho, London in 1869, a Barman by trade, he enlisted on the 21st September 1887, and served until he was declared unfit for further service on the 30th June 1904, by which time he had risen to the rank of Sergeant.
He served at home from 21st September 1887 to 16th December 1889, In Indian to 1st March 1890, Burma to 1st December 1892, India to 23rd October 1903 and finally at home until 30th June 1904.
His service papers confirm him as entitled to this medal and clasps.
William Vodden died on the 29th January 1939
