Thomas Hallam Spencer was born in Stamford, Lincoln in 1846and enlisted on the 5th July 1866
His Pension claim submitted to the Chelsea board shows he also served in China, although does not give any dates, or medal entitlement. It also states that he was suffering from General disability due to climate and long service, suffering from a general weakness and rhematisum
Served in 5/1 Scottish Division Royal Artillery in Egypt
With Copies of medal rolls for Perak and Egypt, both confirming medal and clasps, on the Egypt roll it is noted Invalided to England 7th August 1885.
He was discharged on the 19th January 1886 his intended place of residence stated as Express office, Selby Yorkshire.
The 1891 census has him living in Middlesborough with his wife Louisa and children Tom and William Albert.
He died in June 1898.
Condition – IGS is NVF, surface scratching and some wear to regimental number and regiment, Egypt and LSGC have heavy pitting from the Khedives star, with some elements of naming on both badly damaged as indicated above Star has damage to points of the star.
