Nicholas Walsh was born in Mullingar, Westmeath, Ireland in 1818.
He enlisted on the 4th June 1836 serving in the 77th regiment until his discharge on the 31st March 1857.
He was tried by court martial for being drunk on duty twice.
He was discharged as a result of being worn out by long service.
