Edward George Baker was born in December 1845, Walcot, Bath, Somerset.
He enlisted on the 22nd August 1865 into the Royal Marine Artillery.
He served onboard the Topaze from 13th June 1871 to 31st December 1873. The Himalaya from 12th December 1876 to 24th December 1877. The Hornet from 25th February 1877 to 14th May 1879. The Midge from 15th May 1879 to 5th July 1879. Tyne 6th July 1879 to 19th September 1879. RMA 20th September 1879 to 29th June 1882. Mediterranean Battalion 30th June 1882 to 31st October 1882. Victor Emanuel 8th December 1883 to 31st December 1884. He was finally discharged on the 30th August 1886.
His service record records he was invalided from the China Station on the 10th June 1879, Organic disease of the heart.
He married in December 1875.
His papers and medal roll confirm he received this medal and the Khedives Star.
Condition – VF+, some minor contact wear from the star, but much better than normally seen.
