Queens South Africa, clasps, Defence of Ladysmith, Laing’s Nek, Belfast, 6296 Pte H. Boyington, Rifle Brigade.
Horace Boyington was born in Nottingham in 1870.
He enlisted on the 24th November 1888, serving at home to 19th September 1899, South Africa to 24th September 1902, Egypt to 9th October 1905, Malta to 24th October 1906, home to 23rd November 1910.
His papers confirm these clasps, plus entitlement to the Kings South Africa medal with both clasps.
Whilst serving he was jailed a couple of times, but worse, when a civilian he was tried and jailed for begging on the 23rd February 1908 and spent 8 days in custody, and again on the 28th May 1908.
