Arthur William Meaton was born in Dalston, Middlesex in 1873.
He enlisted on the 1st February 1894, serving at home to the 3rd October 1896, Gibraltar to 16th January 1898, Egypt to 2nd October 1898, Crete to 18th April 1899, home to 8th November 1899, South Africa to 29th August 1902 home to 31st December 1905.
His service papers confirm his entitlement to this medal, plus Khedives Sudan, clasp Khartoum, Q.S.A. with clasps Cape Colony, Orange Free State and Transvaal, K.S.A. clasps South Africa 1901 and 1902.
With copied medal rolls also confirming the above, plus the Modder River clasp, whilst serving on the H.Q staff at Standerton Heidelburg district.
