WW1 pair – Royal Field Artillery, Died of wounds on the 10th April 1918 (German Spring Offensive)

British War and Victory Medals, L-7989 B.Q.M. Sjt W. Walters, R.A.

William Emmanuel Walters was born on the 7th November 1876 Caxton Terrance, Mansfield, Nottingham.

He joined the 1st brigade, Royal Field Artillery in January 1915, promoted  Battery Quarter Master Sergeant in the autumn of 1915.

His MIC confirms his entitlement to a pair.

He was severely wounded in the arm, side and abdomen and sent to the 1st Australian clearing station where he arrived on the 9th April 1918, where he died on the 10th April

His death was reported in the Mansfield Reported and Sutton Times.

He was buried at La Kreule Military Cemetery, Hazebrouck, Nord, France.
