WW1 pair – Royal Field Artillery, Officer. Twice wounded.

Phillip Frederick Howard Simon was born on the 6th May 1898 at Hearn Hill, Norwood, London. In 1916 he applied for admission to the Royal Military College, Sandhurst., having completed his course he was commissioned on the 26th January 1918, joint the Royal Field Artillery.
His MIC shows he landed in France on the 7th February 1918 Joining 50th Brigade Royal Field Artillery. Having only been at the front for 3 months he was wounded in the head and gassed, being admitted to the no 54 French Hospital, Dinon.
On the 17th July 1918 he returned to France to rejoin his brigade.
On the 13th October 1918 he was wounded in action, receiving a gunshot wound to his left leg.
The war ended whilst he was in hospital recovering.
Promoted full Lieutenant 25th July 1919.
Resigned his commission June 1922.
He then travelled to South Africa and became a farmer. He died on the 23rd November 1953 at Somerset West Hospital, South Africa.
